My name is Richard Parkhouse, and this is Susy Parkhouse. We’re clients of Ian’s at Druthers, and we’ve been with him now for just under two years.
Susy
We first got in touch with Ian because we had another financial adviser, and we discovered that he had made a few basic mistakes. It was too late to correct the mistakes, but we did wonder whether we ought to be making a change. So, we contacted Ian.
Richard
My wife found Ian at a wedding that we attended for a friend of ours’ daughter. She had spoken to him at great length during this wedding and told me I needed to speak to him.
Susy
The next step, after meeting Ian at the wedding, was to check him out. So, we did some fairly thorough checking, including with our friend whose daughter’s wedding it was. He said, “Yes, this man is great. He gets the best returns. I’d trust him with my cash any day.”
Richard
Ian provides us with a level of comfort, in the sense that he’s very good with both of us. We don’t always agree on everything; we don’t necessarily have the same risk profile, but he manages the meeting so that, in the end, we come up with a solution that we’re all happy with.
Susy
The good thing about Ian’s financial planning is, I’m very glad to say, that we’re not just going to fritter away all our money, but there might be some left at the end for the children. He’s got very detailed planning spreadsheets and stuff like that, which are quite reassuring.
Richard
One thing that Ian provides is out-of-the-family continuity. So, if, for example, we were travelling and didn’t come back, he would be able to sort out our finances, and it just helps to have somebody who’s not in the family knowledgeable about our affairs. We think that adds a lot of value.
Susy
Yes, definitely.
The best thing about Ian is the sounding board and the fact that he’s prepared to disagree and argue, but we end up with a solution that we’re all happy with.
Richard
The three words I’d describe Ian as are friendly, approachable, and detail-orientated.
Susy
I’ve been recommending Ian to whoever it’s appropriate to recommend him to. Anyone in a position to need help with their finances going forward.
